   Format: Audio CD Featuring mostly the compositions of Lalo Schifrin but also the alto sax and flute of Leo Wright. The first 5 tracks had been recorded in orchestral form 10 days earlier in New York and later released on the Verve album Gillespiana. They are here played by Dizzy's quintet in precisely the same4/5(1).

   Gillespie plays with his usual wit and panache, but most of the time, he sounds like a sideman on his own album; the real focus of Schifrin 's arrangements is the funky wah-wah guitars and ARP synthesizer solos that take center stage on tracks like "Fire Dance" (which sounds exactly like it should be the theme for a Charlie's Angels spinoff) and the mellow disco of the closing "Last Stroke of .

   We hear Dizzy in concert in Frankfurt in in the august company of Leo Wright, Lalo Schifrin, Bob Cunningham and Mel Lewis. The tunes played are quite long which means that the five musicians have time to explore the tunes which range from the s Ellington classic "The Mooche" (), to Dizzy's own "classics" Kush () and "Con Alma" (twice, both c 13 min) via "I Can't Get Started /5(11).
