    Dec 28,  · Disco band One of the most original musical ensembles of the disco era. Formed in the Bronx in The concept of the group was the re-creation of a '30s jazz-swing band, à la Cab Calloway, with witty lyrics, lush disco arrangements and orchestrations, and disco beat. They had a big dancefloor hit with "Cherchez La Femme.".

    I grew up with this album - I own two copies of the original vinyl release, the original CD release, as well as the Cherchez la Femme (Best of..) that contains pretty much all of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's first two recordings on the RCA label/5().

    A smaller lineup known as Dr. Buzzard's Savannah Band (omitting the word "original") also released a fourth album in They were frequent performers at Studio Darnell and Hernandez went on to form Kid Creole and the Coconuts and Elbow Bones and the Racketeers.
